Kibmist Enterprises Ltd ran a biochar training session aimed at helping to reduce global warming while improving soil health.
Biochar is a charcoal-like material made by heating plant waste with limited oxygen. It locks carbon into a stable form instead of releasing it into the atmosphere, and when added to soil it can improve structure and water retention.
Participants gathered around a drum kiln to see the production process first-hand.
Highlights:
- •Practical demonstration of biochar production using a drum kiln
- •Community members learned how biochar supports soil health and carbon storage
- •Links to Kibmist's wider land restoration work
